Tinubu leaves Abuja for Mecca to perform Umrah – THISAGE

President Bola Tinubu will depart Abuja on Thursday for Mecca, Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah.

The President’s planned trip was announced in a statement released on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

According to the statement, the visit will provide Tinubu with an opportunity for spiritual reflection, devotion and prayers for the peace, unity, stability and continued progress of Nigeria.

In Mecca, the President will perform religious rites associated with Umrah, an Islamic pilgrimage to the Holy City, and pray for divine guidance and blessings for the country and its people.

The trip comes as the federal government continues to address national security concerns and economic challenges while pursuing its development agenda.

Before departing Abuja, the President will commission equipment purchased by the Nigerian Air Force for its operations.

Commissioning is expected at the Presidential Wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

The assignment will precede Tinubu’s departure for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to undertake spiritual exercise.

Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria next week after completing the Umrah pilgrimage.

Umrah is an Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca that can be performed at any time of the year, unlike the Hajj, which takes place during a specific period of the Islamic calendar.
