In the second half, the Nigerian club regained the lead – in the 65th minute – when Vincent Augustus found the back of the net.
However, Berkane fought back and equalized once again in the 83rd minute with a goal from Mohamed El Morabit.
The disappointing result seemed to have taken its toll on Insurance head coach, Monday Odigie, who expressed his frustration during the post-match press conference.
In a video captured at the venue, Odigie repeatedly shouted at journalists before abruptly leaving the conference.
When asked to comment on his team’s defensive display, which allowed the Moroccans to gain an advantage, the coach seemed agitated and subsequently stormed out.
It remains to be seen how Bendel Insurance will fare in the second leg against RS Berkane.
The pressure is now on the Nigerian team to deliver a strong performance and secure a favorable result.
