The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has indicated interest to revive critical social facilities, located at the six area councils.
This became necessary when the Mandate Secretary, Social Development Secretariat, Ibrahim Aminu, toured the area councils.
Aminu said the administration will revive those facilities that can be revived immediately and put them to use, while those that require long time planning will also be given necessary attention.
He reaffirmed his commitment to actualising the mandate of the Social Development Secretariat, which according to him, is the provision of social services to the residents of the territory.
Facilities visited today in company of other senior officials of the Secretariat include, Ushafa Pottery Centre, Bwari Mini Stadium in Ushafa, Vocational and Rehabilitation Centre, Kuchiko-Bwari, Women Development Centre, Zuba and also Lugbe Vocational and Training Centre.
The Mandate Secretary who did not also hide his displeasure over the deplorable conditions of some of the facility visited directed relevant departments in charge of such facilities to ensure they compiled a comprehensive report about the current state of the facility including challenges with pictorial evidence and forward it to his office for onward presentation to the minister.
He was visibly unhappy at the very bad shape of the abandoned Bwari Mini Stadium in Ushafa, in which its construction had been stalled despite the fact that about 50 percent of the funds have been paid to the contractor handling the project, it was gathered.
Aminu promised to report the level of things he has seen so far in the course of the tour to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike and Mariya Mahmoud as he described the duo as promoters of the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.
