NWFL SUPER-6: Edo Queens Dare Rivers Angels, Gun For Second Straight Win On Monday

Edo Queens of Benin City are determined to become the first club to wrap up two straight victories in this yearโ€™s edition of Nigerian Women Football League (NWFL) Super-6, as they aim for maximum points against Rivers Angels of Port Harcourt on Monday.

While the Port Harcourt side settled for a 1-1 draw with their south-south rivals and hosts, Bayelsa Queens of Yenagoa on Saturday, Edo Queens slammed Confluence Queens of Lokoja 5-1 in the competitionโ€™s opening match earlier the same day.

Both sides are now set to lock horns at noon on Monday, in what is expected to be a very explosive second game of Match Day 2 in this yearโ€™s NWFL Super-6 at Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa.

Heading into that encounter, Edo Queensโ€™ coach, Moses Aduku declared emphatically that his side is determined to ruffle many feathers and go all the way to the title, to make up for a shoddy outing they had last year.

Aduku, who began his verbal charge in pidgin English, stated at length: โ€œThe truth is we dey vex. Last year was a disappointing outing. This time, the girls are up and doing.

โ€œWe got our victory because they played well, and they played to instructions.โ€

The former youth international is now hoping for an even better outing by the Benin City-based lasses, as they confront all odds against a highly formidable Rivers State-owned side on a pitch and terrain that is just across the border from their base.
