Fubara orders the audit of 23 LGA accounts in the last 3 years
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has directed the State Auditor General to begin auditing the accounts of the 23 local government areas for the last three years. As they swore in chairmen of the Local Government Areas Care Committee on Wednesday, June 19, the governor said the move is intended to serve as a check for incoming officials.
He urged interim presidents to protect the interests of their people and demonstrate that the government made the right choice in appointing them. Fubara explained that the fight against tenure extension is not just about Rivers State, but Nigeria, as allowing it in one state could lead to it being replicated at the national level.
The Rivers governor added that the process for elections in the local government area will begin soon
