Justice JO Adeyeye of the Ekiti State High Court, Ado-Ekiti, on Wednesday sentenced one Ojo Ayegbusi to life imprisonment for raping a 15-year-old girl in the state.

The convict was charged by the state government with one count of rape.

Director of Public Prosecutors, Julius Ajibare, in his presentation said that the convict committed the crime while the victim was returning home from school.

He said: β€œThe girl was accosted by inmates who lured her into his room and had carnal knowledge of her.

β€œThe victim could not tell anyone about her bad experience, but her father found out about it when the girl fainted at home and blood was oozing from her private parts.

The prosecutor called five witnesses and presented three pieces of evidence to support his case.

The convict who spoke through his attorney, Mr E O. Sunmonu, gave evidence in his defense and called one additional witness.

The judge in his decision was of the opinion that the prosecutor had proven the offense of rape against the defendant beyond doubt.

He convicted the defendant and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
