The Prime Minister of the Republic of Biafra Government-In-Exile (BRIGE), Simon Ekpa, has told the Nigerian government what must be done for peace to prevail in the South East region of the country.
Ekpa called on the Nigerian government to dismantle and withdraw all checkpoints in the Southeast if it truly wants peace to return to the region.

Finland-based Ekpa further explained what he called a misrepresentation of the Biafra agitation, saying that the only thing the Biafran people want is lasting peace in their region and to achieve this, the Nigerian government must demilitarize the Southeast region.
The region has been hit by violent attacks and kidnappings that have caused loss of life and property. Ekpa and his supporters continued to declare sit-at-home days in the region, accompanied by attacks on security agencies in the region.
βWe oppose the Nigerian state which is carrying out militarization in Biafra. Those who claim we are committing violence should blame the Nigerian state,β Ekpa said.
βThey brought violence while we defended ourselves. “We demand the withdrawal of the military and the dismantling of all checkpoints in Biafra territory,” Ekpa said.
BRGIE, Prime Minister Simon Ekpa disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday while speaking in room X.
According to him, the Nigerian government is to blame for the crisis in the southeast because it has militarized the region.https://t.co/ZTl4yo1gJDβ Simon Ekpa (@simon_ekpa) June 20, 2024
