Unidentified gunmen have kidnapped a police officer and a driver working for His Excellency (HRH), Chief Cornwell Ihunwo, a prominent ruler of Rumu-Elechi community in Nkpolu-Orowurokwo, Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of ββRivers State.
The kidnapping occurred at the king’s residence around Eagle Island on Saturday night.
Godstime Ihunwo, executive member of Diobu Vigilante and Head of Nkpolu-Orowurokwo Security, disclosed that the incident occurred around 8pm and the initial target of the kidnapping was the king.
He stated: βI received a call about the kidnapping of HRH Cornwell Ihunwo at around 9pm on Saturday. I rushed to his house on Eagle Island, where I met him. Chief Cornwell told me it was the driver and the police officer who were kidnapped.β

Godstime Ihunwo condemned the attempted abduction of the king, and called for a thorough police investigation.
βWe condemn the plot to kidnap HRH Cornwell Ihunwo and call on the Police to ensure a thorough investigation into the incident.β
The Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, a Police Inspector, confirmed the incident and stated that investigations were underway.
