Euro 2024: Netherlands beat Türkiye to reach semi-finals with England

The Netherlands advanced to the semi-finals of the European Championship after coming from behind to beat Türkiye 2-1 on Saturday night.

It was a game of two halves as Turkey led 1-0 at half-time through centre-back Samet Akaydin whose 35th-minute effort put them ahead.

The Netherlands hit back in the second half, with Stefan de Vrij equalising with a fine header 20 minutes from time.

The Netherlands managed to come back six minutes later through an own goal by Mert Muldur, who curled the ball over the line under pressure from Cody Gakpo.

The win means Ronald Koeman’s side will now face England in Dortmund on Wednesday as both sides battle for a place in the final.

The winner of that match will face the winner between Spain and France in the tournament final.
