Conditions of admission

Candidates are admitted to the department’s bachelor’s degree program in one of the following ways:

• Unified Tertiary Entrance Examination (UTME)
• Direct entry
• Interuniversity transfer
• JUPEB one-year program

1. UTME ENTRY MODE

• The minimum academic requirement is the successful completion of five subjects at O/Level in a nationally recognised examination, including English Language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings. In addition, an acceptable pass in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) based on the approved cut-off mark for the current academic session in which a candidate seeks admission, is required for admission into 100 Level.

2. DIRECT ENTRY MODE

• (a) In addition to the O level requirements stipulated above, candidates must have at least two A level papers in relevant subjects.
• (b) OND in the relevant discipline with at least one higher credit grade in addition to the five credits passed as in the relevant subjects.
• (c) HND in a relevant discipline with at least one upper credit in addition to five credits passed in relevant subjects.

3. COMMON UNIVERSITIES PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION COMMITTEE (JUPEB)

• The candidate must possess a minimum of 5 credits in at least two (2) sessions in at least 5 subjects relevant to the desired department which shall form the basis for the candidate’s admission into the Joint University Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB) programme. The candidate must have completed the JUPEB examination course relevant to the department in a minimum of one academic session of two semesters. The candidate must successfully attain the acceptable score/pass for admission into any department as specified by the University and JUPEB regulations.

4. INTERUNIVERSITY TRANSFER

Candidates wishing to transfer to the department from another university must have:

• Obtain and complete the interuniversity transfer form from the university admissions office.
• Meet the Department’s minimum academic standard required for this level.
