Young Generations, Catalysts for a New Africa – Governor Abiodun

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has described Africa’s young generation as the catalyst for the development of a new economic frontier for the continent.

Prince Abiodun made the statement on Thursday evening when he received in Abeokuta members of the Royal African Young Leadership Forum, an initiative of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, aimed at young men and women on the African continent.

Praising Oba Ogunwusi for initiating an evolving leadership movement for Africa, the governor said the energy and creativity of the forum members will help reposition the continent.

He said: “I see young men and women as catalysts for shaping a new economic frontier in Africa.

“I believe what Ooni of Ife has started here is not just a forum, but a movement, a movement of evolving African leadership.

“I want to thank the Ooni of Ife for doing this and for doing it in silence. I believe that with the energy, creativity, versatility and innovative thinking that you in that age group possess, you are truly the leaders of Africa today, and you must constantly remember that.

“You have to have that grit inside you, you have to have that spirit inside you, you have to have that determination inside you and it all starts with this kind of association where you meet, you mingle and you share ideas, not only within your own country, but also between different countries.”

Governor Abiodun noted that the age group of the forum participants, 40 years and under, represents between 65% and 70% of the world’s population.

Earlier, Royal Forum Director Tomisin Olawale noted that in the last three years, the group had made transactions worth about 300 billion naira.

He said that the members of the Forum are creating a new Africa and are also driving the continent’s new economic frontier.
