
No fewer than 22 Kwara United Football Club players have been sacked ahead of the upcoming season, according to the club’s management.

Kwara United FC General Manager Bashir Badawiy revealed this during the first official training session on Monday ahead of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The Badawiy club said that 23 additional NPFL stars have been recruited to strengthen the club ahead of the upcoming season.
He noted that top-quality players have agreed to join the team.
βPlayers like Abayomi Samuel (Shooting Stars), Jimi Iteji (Plateau United), former U-17, U-20 and U-23 goalkeepers Kazeem Badmus and Adamu Abubakar, as well as Ifeanyi Ogba (Rangers International) are on their way to joining Kwara United FC.
βWe have released 22 players from last season to join clubs in the country and abroad because their services will not be needed. The club wishes them the best, but we are focused on the task at hand,β he added.
He also asked the players to avoid indiscipline and work in line with the club’s philosophy and aim to finish next season in the top three.
βOur expectations for the 2024/25 season National Football League (NPFL) βThe season is all about finishing in the top three, we donβt want to suffer again; look at our record in the last two seasons, we were in the top four and even qualified for the continental championship,β he said.
Kwara United will participate in the upcoming Valuejet pre-season tournament which will hold in Ikenne, Ogun State starting from the 24th of this month.
Meanwhile, the club continues its training tomorrow morning at the Kwara United training ground.
