PDP governor vows to find solution to Rivers crisis

Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday pledged support to their Rivers State counterpart, Siminalayi Fubara, over the crisis in the state.

The governors gave the assurance in a communique issued at the end of their meeting in Enugu and read by the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Bala Mohammed.

The governors have resolved to find a solution to the feud between Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

Fubara and Wike fell out in September last year with state lawmakers and political officials divided between the two.

A peace deal brokered by President Bola Tinubu in December last year failed to achieve the desired results as the warring parties potentially engaged in a standoff over alleged violations of the agreement reached at a meeting in Abuja.

The communique read: “We will undertake broader consultations with stakeholders to reach a peaceful resolution and thereby find a lasting solution to this crisis.”

The governors also acknowledged that Nigerians are facing challenges and vowed to bring back the good times of low inflation and affordable food prices.

They therefore urged Nigerians to refrain from acts of anarchy as the country moves towards the 2027 elections.
