The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested ten men suspected of carrying out illegal mining activities in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
According to a statement released on Monday by EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, the arrested suspects include Yunusa Adisa, Ganiyu Kazeem, Muideen Babayemi, Sulaiman Usman, Adeleke Waliu, Tiamiyu Rokeeb, Olusola Sunday, Oyedokun Oluwagbemiga, Sulaimon Ishiaq and Olufimihan Eniola. They were arrested with six trucks loaded with lithium.

“The arrests were made based on credible intelligence information regarding their alleged involvement in the illegal extraction and transportation of solid mineral resources, particularly lithium, to an undisclosed location,” Oyewale said.
He further emphasized that the suspects would face legal proceedings after the investigation was completed.
“We commend the Ibadan Zonal Directorate of the EFCC for their swift action in arresting these suspects,” Oyewale concluded.
