Best Talent FC are crowned champions of the Green Lock Summer Tournament after beating Green Lock FC 2-0

Mowe’s Best Talent FC has been crowned champion of the first edition of the GreenLock summer pre-season football tournament held in Rowing stars Stadium, Ikenne, Ogun State defeated Green Lock FC 2-0.

Both goals in either half of the match were scored by highly-rated and prolific striker Azeez Tijani, who turned the hosts into outsiders on their own turf and snatched the coveted trophy in an iconic setting.

Popularly known as the team of integrity, Best Talent remains undefeated in the competition having defeated Star Builders 1-0 in the opening match, humiliated TCCG FC 5-2, and settled for a 1-1 draw against Magic Stars FC, propelling them to the top of Group A.

Green Lock FC under the tutelage of Coach Bolarinwa had equal points from Group B in an unbeaten run and both teams met in the final of the prestigious pre-season tournament with high expectations from the host team and the unbeaten Best Talent.

Speaking to the Mowe giants head coach Yinka Popoola Gullit thanked the club president Mr Adeyinka Adeyemo for his tremendous support. He did the same for the management and the commitment of the players for their tenacity and resilience in lifting the trophy against the host team. In his words: β€œI want to give a huge commendation to my players for doing a wonderful job today. They all played well and followed instructions. The tactical and technical advice they internalized was reflected in the game. They withstood all the incursions thrown at them by the home side, the Green Lock team and it paid off.

β€œMy president is a man of his word and the entire management team, doctors and media are supporting us to achieve this victory. I thank them all.”

β€œWe hope to consolidate this and I believe that the world champions are already here, only time will reveal them at its own pace.

I must not forget to thank the organisers for providing a level playing field for everyone here. If this kind of scenario is applied everywhere, Nigerian football will continue to produce worthy champions.” A very elated Coach Gullit introduced
