William Troost-Ekong scored the winner as PAOK beat Bosnian club Borac Banja Luka 3-2 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League second round tie on Wednesday.
It was Troost-Ekong’s first match since the 2023 AFCON final in February following an injury layoff.
With the match tied 2-2, Troost-Ekong scored in the 51st minute to give his Greek side the lead in the first leg.
The return match will be played on July 31 and the winner of the two matches will advance to the third round.
Troost-Ekong’s return will be welcome news for the Super Eagles ahead of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
He was named AFCON 2023 Most Valuable Player after scoring three goals.
