The Kano State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) disclosed on Thursday that it successfully prosecuted 22 drug dealers in the state in July 2024.
Commander Abubakar Idris-Ahmad confirmed the verdict, describing it as a significant achievement in the fight against drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
“We have punished 22 drug dealers,” said Idris-Ahmad. βDuring one of the arrests, Abubakar Muβazu was involved in an altercation and stabbed an NDLEA officer.β
βMu’azu was later sentenced to three years in a correctional centre, while the others received various prison sentences,β he added.
Highlighting the various illicit substances seized, Idris-Ahmad stressed the command’s commitment to combating drug trafficking and bringing offenders to justice.

He commended the Chairman/Chief Executive of NDLEA, retired Brigadier General Mohammed Buba-Marwa, for his steadfast support in the fight against drug abuse.
“No form of intimidation or violence will deter our officers from upholding justice,” Idris-Ahmad said. “Our professionals are dedicated to ensuring that those involved in drug-related crimes face the consequences of the law.”
In appealing for community cooperation, Idris-Ahmad appealed to residents to immediately report any suspicious drug-related activities to the agency, while emphasizing the role of the community in realizing a drug-free society.
