Abia 2024 Teqball World Championship Qualifiers: How Team Delta emerges champions and qualifies for the World Championship

Team Delta has emerged victorious, winning the championship title in the Aba 2024 qualifiers and securing a spot in the World Teqball Championship in the United States of America.

In the men’s singles final, Victor Oyemade defeated Khalid Akorede 2-1, while his teammate Andrew Ikoko lost 1-2 to Tobi of Abia State in the bronze medal match. In the men’s doubles, Oyemade and Ikoko narrowly defeated Akorede and Funsho Samson (Nigeria’s number two player) 2-1.

Marvel Dick, the Chairman of Delta State Teqball Association, expressed satisfaction with the team’s qualification, saying Nigeria will field a strong team that will compete favourably at the World Championship.

“It is certainly not easy, but we will continue to fight to keep the Nigerian flag high on the world stage.”

Victor Oyemade, who narrowly lost 1-2 to the world number one at the 2024 World Championships in Hungary, is hoping to give the world champion a good fight at the upcoming tournament.
