Preliminary results of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election in Adamawa State indicate that 35-year-old businessman and politician Abdulrahman Bashir Haske has taken a clear and dominant lead, outperforming his rivals by a wide margin in the race.
The primaries, which have attracted considerable political attention ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial elections, feature prominent contenders including Ahmed Tijjani Galadima and Hon. Abdulrazak Namdas, as well as Dr. Salihu Bakarri Girei and Aminu Iya Abbas, who joined the contest with relatively less visibility.
According to HMT data, which reflects the position of the three main aspirants, Haske has so far collected a total of 555,427 votes (68.66%); while Galadima got 146,068 votes (18.00%) and Namdas got 64,430 votes, accounting for a paltry 07.96% of the total votes. Namadas obtained 45,562 votes (05.61%).
While the figures represent the results collected so far from the 216 districts in the state, with 10 districts of the Toungo Local Government Area (LGA) yet to be received, the HMT also provides some details on the votes available from some of the 216 districts in the state, indicating unequivocally that Haske is the candidate to beat in the governorship race.
The breakdown of results from various districts and local government areas that have come in further underlines Haske’s overwhelming dominance. In Hong Local Government Area, Haske emerged ahead with 15,185 votes, surpassing Galadima’s 12,025 votes and Namdas’ 7,547 votes.
In the Mayo-Belwa local government area, Haske maintained a strong lead in multiple districts, including Mbilla ward where he polled 8,709 votes, far surpassing Galadima’s 220 votes and Namdas’ 50 votes.
Similar patterns were recorded in Yaffo Ward, where Haske polled 370 votes compared to Galadima’s 10 and Namdas’ 20, and in Mayo Farang Ward where he recorded 1,980 votes, compared to Galadima’s 60 and Namdas’ 20.
In Michika I district of Michika local government area, Haske polled 6,200 votes, leaving Galadima with 280 votes and Namdas with just five. In Kiri II ward, Toungo Local Government Area, Haske again led with 475 votes, outdistancing Galadima, which recorded 25 votes, and Namdas with 33 votes.

The trend continued in Jada local government area, where Haske recorded landslide victories in several wards, including 4,001 votes in Leko Ward, 1,300 votes in Koma II Ward, 3,100 votes in Jada I Ward and 2,002 votes in Jada II Ward, with his closest rivals trailing in each case.
Further results from Yola South local government area showed Haske consolidated his lead, particularly in Adarawo ward where he polled 5,887 votes, compared to 65 for Galadima and 12 for Namdas. In Ngurore ward, he recorded 862 votes, while Galadima and Namdas got 36 and 13 votes respectively. In Makama’s “A” ward, Haske maintained his lead with 1,660 votes, ahead of Galadima’s 187 and Namdas’ 98.
In Yola North local government area, Jambutu Hajj camp ward results revealed that Haske secured 7,850 votes, ahead of Galadima’s 2,007 votes. Similarly, in Demsa local government area, Haske recorded 2,351 votes, while Galadima only got 51 votes.
The findings highlight Haske’s continued and widespread appeal in both urban and rural constituencies, strengthening his position as the clear frontrunner in primary elections.
Observers note that the significant margins recorded in multiple districts indicate a well-established grassroots structure and growing political momentum.
