Adeleke rubbished rumors of kidnapping at Osun school

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has dismissed reports of kidnapping of schoolchildren in some parts of the state as false alarms.

In a statement issued on Tuesday in Osogbo by his Chief Press Secretary, Olawale Rasheed, the governor assured the people of Osun that the government had taken proactive steps to secure schools across the state.

Adeleke described the kidnapping rumors as the work of troublemakers, and stated that checks carried out in border communities and other areas of the state confirmed that no similar incidents had taken place.

“I urge our people to carry out normal activities without fear. Our government has taken firm steps to secure our schools.

“The Ministry of Education in collaboration with relevant security agencies has developed and implemented a comprehensive security strategy,” he said.

He urged parents and guardians to remain calm, stressing that the warnings were false and intended to create panic and destabilize the country.

The governor also provided an update on the armored vehicles abandoned by the previous administration, stating that the Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs) have been fully refurbished and are ready for deployment.

The governor said his administration inherited damaged APCs, but has since rehabilitated them for use in joint security operations.

“The previous government inherited this APC but failed to sustain it.

“We have now restored it, and the public will soon see a strengthened security architecture to protect lives and property across the state,” he concluded.
