Amended TRC law: Group condemns campaign of calumny against Eno

A socio political group, ARISE Ambassadors in Akwa Ibom state, Monday  strongly condemned the spate of blackmails and campaign of calumny against Governor Umo Eno following the recent amended Traditional Rulers Council law in the state.

The group, which described the action as a misadventure and unnecessary vituperation, noted that it was the handiwork of mischief makers capable of misinterpreting fact to foment trouble across the state.

The national president of the group,  Revd. Richard Peter, disclosed this to pressmen   in Uyo, on the theme: Amended Traditional Rulers Council law: ‘The Dignity of Traditional Institution and Needless Rancour.’

Peters expressed regrets at the ethnic dimensions the new law is assuming and the threat to the existing peace in the state.

He appealed to the people of Akwa Ibom state to remain peaceful and united against agents of destabilisation.

It would be recalled that the governor Monday accented the bill seeking to amend the Traditional Rulers law CAP 155 Laws of Akwa Ibom State, 2022 (as amended) which was presented, deliberated and subsequently referred to the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs for scrutiny and finally passed into Law by the House of Assembly.
