american tail has stepped forward to champion women’s basketball in Nigeria with the debut of the women’s edition of its Courtside 2026 tournament, held at the Ilupeju Basketball Court in Lagos.
After five weeks of intense competition and outstanding performances, the MC Spencer team emerged as champions, closing a tournament that brought together 8 communities from across Lagos.
The women’s edition was structured to encourage, promote and elevate the culture of basketball among women who take the court, build careers and obtain recognition both locally and globally, demonstrating that the sport belongs to everyone.
American Cola has created the perfect platform to highlight this movement at the grassroots level.
Following the success of the men’s edition launched in 2025, where Oworo Community emerged as champions after a 7-week tournament involving 16 Lagos communities, Planet Bottling Company expanded the initiative to include women, reinforcing its commitment to inclusivity and community development.
The brand also confirms that the 2026 men’s edition will take place later this year, as American Cola Courtside continues to grow into a major annual competition.
