APC postpones Kwara gubernatorial primary election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee has postponed the Kwara governorship primary election until Friday.

Chairman of the APC in the state, Mr.
Sunday Fagbemi, disclosed this to newsmen in Ilorin during Thursday’s primaries.

Fagbemi said the party’s national leadership directed that the exercise be moved, although no reason was given for the postponement.

He said: “We don’t have any details of the cancellation other than the fact that a team from the national office came and instructed that the elections be held tomorrow.”

Meanwhile, eight gubernatorial candidates on Thursday reportedly withdrew for Amb. Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s chosen successor.

This follows a decision taken following a strategic meeting held on Wednesday evening with Seriki and other stakeholders in the state.
