Bandits of arrest of troops, military impostor, recovered ammunition in Taraba

Dutsen Kachalla (basic reporter) in the context of the current efforts to free the state of criminal elements of Taraba under the auspices of the operation Lafiyan Jamaa, the troops of 6 brigades of the Nigerian army/sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (APW), continued to record enormous operational successes in recent times. The gallant troops carried out a series of coordinated operations in various areas of the local government, with the consequent arrest of a refined bandit, the apprehension of a well -known military impostor and the recovery of a significant cache of weapons and ammunition.

On April 16, 2025, following a rescue call from a local hunter, the troops rapidly mobilized in a suspected field of bandits in Dutsen Kachalla in Lainde, Lau Lga. After sighting the approach troops, the criminals fled to the mountainous ground. The troops chased and successfully recovered a (1) Ak-47 magazine, a (1) Fulcro of AK-47 rifle, a (1) military couple and a national identification card belonging to an Adamu Umaru Jauro.

A declaration by the deputy director of the army Public Relations 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Captain Olubodunde Oni said: “On April 19, 2025, acting in credible intelligence, the troops arrested a Yusuf Hammadu, also known as” Dogo “, in Lainde Jessy, Lau Lga. The suspect was the vision of his involvement for his involvement. I confessed to be a member of a union responsible for more kidnappings and collections of redemption in Jalingo, Ardo-Kola, Lau and Yorro Lgas.

“In another operation of April 22, 2025, the troops arrested a Richard Ongu, who had paraded as a specialist on duty in the Nigerian army. According to reports, Ongu has defrauded several individuals by impersonating military personnel. In particular, he fraudulently exchanged his Jeep Nissan with a Toyota corolla with a value of ₦ 5.2 million from a car support owned by Alhaji Ishaka Donga, promising to pay the balance, which he did not do. He also collected ₦ 1.6 million as a deposit for the supply of 350 Sacchi di Beniseed (laugh) and extorted money from the people of the place of Bali and Gassol Lgas under the remains of recruiting their children in the Nigerian army. He also claimed to be the officer who commanded the operational base forward, Bali, and tried to illegally get firearms illegally for the leaders of the community. The suspicion will be delivered to the appropriate authorities for the conclusion of the military investigations for an adequate judicial proceeding.

On April 24, 2025, 6 brigadier troops in collaboration with Dia Operations conducted a successful operation in the village of Jatau-Nyimu in Donga Lga. The operation led to the recovery of eighty -six (86) strokes of 5.6 mm ammunition, one (1) Tarvor magazine, four (4) cartridges, one (1) Beofeng portable radio, three (3) single bar pistols and two (2) military mimetics uniforms.

As he commented on the operations, the Nigerian army of the commander 6 brigade, the brigade general Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, praised the troops for their professionalism and resilience. He reiterated the commitment of the Nigerian army to guarantee peace and lasting security in the state of Taraba and invited the general public to continue to provide timely and credible information to help the current operations.

General Uwa also warned the public against patient people who require money or material objects in exchange for military recruitment, underlining that enrollment in the Nigerian army is voluntary, free and based on merit.

Section 22 of the 1999  Constitution states: “ “The press, radio, television and other agencies of the mass media  shall at all times be free to uphold the fundamental objectives contained in this chapter( ie Chapter II) and uphold the responsibility and accountability of the Government to the people”  Section 39(1)  of same Constitution states : “Every person shall be entitled to freedom of expression, including freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impart ideas and information without interference” ..  To complement these constitutional provisions, Section 1 (1) of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) states “Notwithstanding anything contained in any other Act, law or regulation, the right of any person to access or request information, whether or not contained in any written form, which is in the custody or possession of any public official, agency or institution howsoever described, is established.” while Section  2(2), states that: “A public institution shall ensure the proper organization and maintenance of all information in its custody in a manner that facilitates public access to such information”  Primary Purpose of FOIA  According to the Act, its primary purpose is to make information about public records freely available to every Nigerian in the public interest. …
