Nigeria senior national team coach Eric Chelle is confident that George Ilenikhena will have great success with the team, reports OwnGoalNigeria.com.
The Al Ittihad striker, who has scored four goals in the last five games, including three in a row, agreed to play for the Nigerian senior team after a conversation with Chelle.
Born in Nigeria but raised in France, Chelle was able to convince the 19-year-old that his international future is better with the Nigerian national team, rather than waiting for France.
Chelle is already relishing the idea of having him alongside Victor Osimhen in his team’s attack, and sources say he sees the left-footed striker as someone who will be an instant hit.
Chelle is convinced that he will be the fans’ favorite and will help be part of the future of the team that aspires to win the next African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
