Dangote Petroleum Refinery has launched a plan to start the National Distribution of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and Diesel starting August 1525 – a step described as a strategic reshuffle of the Nigerian fuel distribution system.
In a statement released on Sunday, the company announced that they would use 4,000 tankers supported by new natural gas (CNG) to serve gasoline marketers, station dealers, producers, telecommunications operators, airlines, and other high -volume fuel consumers throughout the country.
“Dangote Petroleum Refinery is proud to announce the start of a significant national initiative designed to change the landscape of Nigerian fuel distribution,” the statement said.
“Effective August 15, 2025, the refinery will start the distribution of the spirit of motorbikes and premium diesel to marketers, gasoline traders, producers, telecommunications companies, flights, and other large users throughout the country, with free logistics to improve the distribution network.”
The company revealed that the launch would include special logistics backbone, supported by more than 100 CNG -powered tankers and the establishment of Booster Station in Nigeria. This infrastructure, said the statement, aimed at handling old supply challenges, reducing transportation costs, and increasing fuel accessibility in urban and rural areas.
“This strategic program is part of our broader commitment to eliminate logistics costs, increase energy efficiency, promote sustainability and support Nigerian economic development,” the Refinery added.

Logistics initiatives will also include credit schemes for bulk buyers who buy 500,000 liters and above, the expected size to revive thousands of inactive charging stations and reduce inflationary pressure throughout the supply chain. This will also benefit small businesses and be in harmony with the economic reform agenda of President Tinubu.
Meanwhile, the President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, hinted that the uproar that will come in the downstream sector. During the new interview -this after the visit of President Tinubu to the $ 20 billion refinery in Lekki, Lagos, Dangote said the development would exceed the fair price adjustment.
“There will be an announcement of what I call a big ‘search’ throughout the country soon,” he said. “This is not about price reduction, but a complete repair of the downstream sector.”
The announcement came at the time of increasing tension in the fuel supply chain, with a tanker driver in Lagos who threatened to stop the operation at the high cost of the N12,500 e-Call up system worn in the Lekki-Epe corridor.
By offering free shipping and sustainable logistics, dangote refinery initiatives are expected to significantly reduce pressure in this sector and increase fuel flow nationally when the distribution begins in August.
