Delta CP Orders for arrest of police officers for the attack (video)

Delta State Police Commissioner, Abaniwonda Olufemi, ordered the trial of an orderly room for six police officers caught by a brutal video of a young man in Asaba, the state of the state.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred on Sundays near the Asaba specialist hospital along Okpanam Road in Asaba when the police greeted the victim and made him search.

Someone who witnessed the man’s trials narrated that when the police would look for his bag, he allegedly told officers that he could not put anything in his bag so they would not turn around to involve him. But his encouragement made officers angry and they came down to him.

Videos shared on several social media platforms become viral with Nigerians condemning officers’ actions and asking police authorities to arrest and sanction.

When reacting to the viral video, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Bright Edafe, in a statement on Monday, confirmed that the officers involved had been identified and called to the State Police Headquarters in Asaba on the orders of CP.

Describing the incident as savage and unprofessional, Effe said the commissioner had ordered the start of their orderly room trial while the leader of their team who was the Assistant of the Police Supervisor, had been asked.
