Deputy Commander of the Israeli Military Fire when releasing the findings of investigations on dead -death attacks -obeying aid workers | World News

The Israeli military said its investigation of the murder of aid workers in Gaza had found “several professional failures, violations of orders, and failures to fully report the incident”.

A commander will be reprimanded and a representative of the commander will be dismissed after a military investigation, said Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).

Fifteen aid workers were shot dead by Israeli forces who fired on a vehicle convoy, including ambulances, on March 23.

They were then buried in a shallow grave where their bodies were found a week later by officials from the United Nations and the Palestinian red crescent.

Probe’s findings come after A Sky News Investigation Earlier this week revealed how the deadly attack occurred, contrary to Israel’s official account about the murder.

Initially, Israel claimed that medical officers did not have an emergency signal when the troops fired their shots, but then resigned.

Cellphone recordings found from one of the medical officers contrary to Israel’s initial account.

In a statement, an IDF spokesman said: “The 4th Brigade Commander will receive a reprimand, which will be recorded in his personal file, for the overall responsibility of the incident, including the battle and management procedures afterwards.

“Deputy Commander of the Golani reconnaissance battalion will be dismissed from his position because of his responsibility as a field commander in this incident and to provide incomplete and inaccurate reports during freezing.”

The investigation found that the Deputy Commander initially did not recognize the vehicle as an ambulance “because of the bad visibility of the night”, according to the spokesman.

“Only later, after approaching the vehicle and scanning them, it was found that this was indeed a rescue team,” they added.
