Drunk passenger forces plane to make emergency landing…

Police said on Thursday that a drunken passenger’s unruly and disturbing behavior forced a plane bound for Spain to make an unscheduled stop in Germany.

The drunk passenger had boarded a flight from Berlin to Alicante, Spain, but his behavior forced the plane to stop at Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden airport in Germany, police said.

The 43-year-old man behaved aggressively after takeoff and allegedly harassed other passengers in an unacceptable manner, police said in a statement.

He was also said to have vomited on the plane.

The pilot then decided to make an unscheduled landing to get the passenger off the plane.

The man was taken into custody by police waiting on the tarmac. The bags then had to be unloaded to access the troublemaker’s bags, a police spokeswoman said.

The Ryanair flight was subsequently able to continue its journey to its original destination in Spain.

The man is accused of violating aviation safety law during the crash, which occurred on Wednesday.

It is not known whether he subsequently returned home or booked a new flight to the holiday destination. It is unclear what costs the airline incurred as a result of the diversion and whether the man was responsible. (dpa/NAN)
