Dubois defeats Joshua in epic fight to retain world title

Nigerian-born British boxer Anthony Joshua was defeated by Daniel Dubois in an epic IBF heavyweight title fight on Saturday night.

An all-British event played in front of 96,000 fans at Wembley Stadium saw Dubois retain his IBF world title.

The 27-year-old dropped Joshua several times and stopped Joshua, 34, with a stunning counter right hook to secure the biggest win of his 24-fight career.

“Weren’t you guys entertained?” Dubois shouted after the fight, drawing loud cheers from the packed stadium.

“I am a gladiator. I am a fighter until the end. I want to reach the highest level in this sport and reach my potential.”

Joshua’s quest to become a three-time champion and return to the top of the division ended in the most dramatic and unexpected way possible.
