The Edo State Government has approved full education scholarships for the three sons of the late Brigadier General Oseni Omoh Braimah, in honor of his sacrifice in active service in Nigeria.
Governor Monday Okpebholo, who gave the approval on Thursday, said children’s education would be fully funded from current academic levels up to university.
According to him, the initiative is in line with the educational component of his administration’s SHINE agenda, which prioritizes human capital development, social well-being and inclusive governance.
“This is about responsibility, honor and a deliberate investment in the future,” he said.
The governor’s chief press officer, Dr. Patrick Ebojele, made this known in a statement.
He said the beneficiaries include Farida Hussain-Braimah, 18, a 100-level software engineering student at Nile University, Abuja; Amir Hussain-Braimah, 16, SS3 student of Olumawu Senior School, Abuja; and Yasmeen Hussain-Braimah, 12.
Blueprint.ng recalls that the late Braimah, an indigene of Edo State, died during the ongoing security operations in Borno State and was buried with full military honours.
Governor Okpebholo described the gesture as a moral responsibility of government and a demonstration of responsive leadership, stressing that the late officer paid the ultimate price in service to Nigeria.
He also called on other state governments and private sector stakeholders to emulate the initiative by establishing structured support systems, particularly in the field of education, for families of military personnel who die in the line of duty.
