Eid-el Kabir: Remember vulnerable groups while sharing sacrificial meat, Aliyu urges Muslims


Sokoto state governor Ahmed Aliyu has urged Muslims who may purchase sacrificial animals to remember the vulnerable groups living among them.

He made the appeal in his Eid-el-Kabir message to the people of the state.

The governor said the appeal became necessary to bring football closer to vulnerable groups in the state.

He noted that although the state government provided sacrificial animals to vulnerable groups, those who purchased sacrificial animals should also share their meat with vulnerable groups.

“Sharing your meat with vulnerable groups, in addition to attracting rewards from Almighty Allah, will give them a sense of belonging,” he said.

“During the Eid holidays, we are encouraged to show love and care for each other, especially our neighbors,” he added.

Governor Aliyu reminded Muslims that Islam has a formula of sharing sacrificial meat and urged them to adhere to it in the interest of humanity.

“The well-off among us must emulate the state government in supporting the less privileged, the needy, the internally displaced and people living with disabilities,” he said.

He added that the state government spends huge sums every year to assist Muslim clerics, the needy, internally displaced persons and persons with disabilities to enable them celebrate Eid-el-Kabir easily.

“As Muslims, we must be of help and support to each other, especially in times of need like this,” the governor said.

Governor Aliyu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring the well-being of the people of the state.

He also appealed to residents to use the Eid prayer sessions to pray for an end to the insecurity plaguing some parts of the state, reassuring them of his administration’s determination to curb banditry.

The governor also appealed to the people of the state to continue to pray for the success of the present administration in delivering democratic dividends across Sokoto State.

He also reminded Nigerian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia to pray fervently for Nigeria to overcome its many challenges.

Governor Aliyu prayed for a successful and peaceful celebration of Eid-el-Kabir.
