Ekiti 2026: Ikogosi community raises Oyebanji campaign with N25m (see photo)

*Holds a solidarity demonstration for the re-election of the Governor

Ahead of the start of his campaign tour of local government areas scheduled for Monday, the people of Ikogosi Ekiti, hometown of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, on Saturday, held a solidarity rally where a donation of N25 million was made to his electoral council.

Residents of the community, including members of Onikogosi – in Council, elders, youths, drivers unions, market women and leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), stormed the town square, the venue of the demonstration, adorned in designer t-shirts and caps, dancing and singing praises of the governor.

Speaking during the presentation of the check to the Director General of BAO Campaign Council, Senator Cyril Fasuyi, the Chairman of Ikogosi Progressive Union (IPU), Chief Olusola Agbaje, said the community saw fit to support the re-election bid of the governor due to the remarkable impact of his administration in the last three and a half years.

Chief Agbaje said the Ikogosi community is especially happy that the governor has restored power to the town after about 15 years of darkness. Furthermore, he said the community has also experienced massive infrastructure improvement which has boosted the city’s social and economic activities.

The donation of $25 million, according to the IPU President, will show to the whole world that Governor Oyebanji enjoys massive domestic support as well as a show of appreciation for all the good works the governor has done in the community with the assurance that all Ikogosi voters will vote for him on June 20 and repeat the same for the President in January 2027.

He further commended the governor for giving governance a human face in Ekiti and changing the face of the city, thereby ensuring that his administration leaves a lasting legacy and impact on the city.

The president of the design committee, Eng., also spoke at the event. Tayo Olajubu, described Governor Oyebanji as a committed leader, dedicated to the welfare and well-being of the people, as well as the progress of the state at large.

Olajubu said individuals and groups within Ikogosi joyfully participated in the demonstration and are armed with their PVC to re-elect Governor Oyebaji on June 20.

Addressing the gathering, the Director General of the Campaign Council, Senator Cyril Fasuyi, thanked the Ikogosi people for showing their love for their son. He also urged them to mobilize support across the length and breadth of Ekiti West Local Government Area, so as to record a significantly high number of votes for the governor in his local government.

Senator Fasuyi said he was impressed by the community’s donation, ensuring them greater good governance dividends during Governor Oyebanji’s second term in office.

In his remarks, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Niyi Adebayo, commended the Ikogosi community for its display of love, saying the donation showed the world that the Governor enjoys a broad profile of support especially from his people, adding that the Governor is not only good and popular externally, but also flaunts tremendous support internally.

The chief of staff said the party was encouraged and energized by the level of community support and assured that the election was already a walk in the park.

Other dignitaries present at the event include the Chairman, Local Government Services Commission, Chief Alaba Bejide, Commissioner for Local Government, Chief Folorunso Olabode, Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Chief Jide Awe, Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yinka Oyebode; The Director General of the Community Communications Bureau, Mrs. Mary Omotoso, and the Chairman of Ekameta LCDA, Dr. Leye Adeniji, among others.
