Falana challenged the promise of one term Peter Obi, asking, “What do you want to do there?”

Nigerian senior advocate and a prominent human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, have fired the president of the labor party full of hope Peter Obi to serve only one term if elected in 2027, insisting that promising limited ownership is not by itself a convincing vision for national transformation.

Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labor Party in the 2023 election, recently reiterated his commitment to serve only four years if given a mandate to lead the country in 2027. He made an appointment during the weekend engagement, which requested an inheritance that did not use John F. Kennedy.

However, speaking in an interview on television channels on Monday, Falana challenged the substance behind such an oath, urged the Nigerians to see outside the duration and demanded concrete plans from the candidate.

“Another problem faced by Nigeria as a nation, is not enough to say I will be in power for four years. I will be in power for eight years, what do you want to do there?” Falana asked.

He further asked the federal government to deepen its focus on inclusive governance, a warning to the unilateral policy making that is alienating the population.

“As for those who are in power, you have a greater responsibility to concentrate on governance and consult with people regarding your policy, so that no one wakes up one day and says I will change the name of the road,” he added.

Meanwhile, Obi’s sole declaration also received criticism from the president. In a very statement that reads “Peter Obi and his examples,” special advisors for the President of the Tinubu soccer about information and strategies, Bayo Onanuga, accused the former Governor of the State Anambra of history of history in accordance with his political ambitions.

Onanuga argues that Obi’s efforts to attract parallel between himself and the iconic world leaders do not have historical accuracy and contextual relevance.

When the political atmosphere of 2027 gradually built momentum, a reaction to Obi’s promise indicates a greater request for substance to the symbolism in the discourse of Nigeria’s leadership.
