The dispute came from accusations by Nupeng for labor practices in the Dangote refinery, the largest refinery project in Africa, which according to trade unions had created tensions among workers. Nupeng had previously threatened industry action if his concern was not handled immediately.
The labor Ministry stressed that dialogue remains the most effective tool for resolving labor conflicts, urges both parties to embrace negotiations in the interests of national economic stability.
Industrial observers say the results of the current meeting will be very important, because disorders in refinery operations can have broad implications for the supply of Nigerian fuel and the economy as a whole.
