House of Representatives Minority Leader, Ali Isa, has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing deepening internal divisions and alleged undemocratic practices within the party.
In a letter of resignation dated April 14, 2026 addressed to the Chairman of Kindiyo Ward, Balanga Local Government Area of Gombe State, Isa stated that his decision was effective immediately.
Explaining his move, the lawmaker said his resignation was “driven by the manner and manner in which some undemocratic forces hijacked the party for reasons contrary to the founding principles and philosophy of the party, which created a factional leadership.”

Isa, who represents Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency, noted that his decision was taken after extensive consultations with family members and political allies.
“After a series of careful consultations with family, political colleagues, friends and relevant stakeholders, I have come to the conclusion that the path to my political future, as well as the political future of the great people who gave me the mandate, is beyond the control of the PDP,” he said.
He emphasized that his primary concern remains the well-being and political progress of his constituents, adding that they deserve a stronger political platform.
“I firmly believe that the people of my constituency deserve a platform that better guarantees their interests and political future,” he said.
Despite leaving, Isa expressed his appreciation to PDP for the opportunity to serve in the public.
“I would like to express my sincere thanks to the leadership and members of the party who have given me a platform where the people of Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency gave me the wonderful opportunity to represent them in the National Assembly. I will remain grateful and wish you all the best,” he added.
