Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC) and other Related Offenses Commission, Musa Aliyu, said on Wednesday that the commission recovered more than ₦13 billion of public funds diverted in September.
Aliyu stated this at the launch of the commission’s 2024-2028 strategic action plan in Abuja.
He emphasized that the ICPC has worked relentlessly to fulfill its mandate.
However, the chairman was silent about where the funds were recovered.
Aliyu revealed that the commission was developing a special curriculum aimed at enhancing the enforcement capacity of its staff.
He said: “Over the past year, the ICPC has made significant progress in implementing its mandate; for example, we recovered more than ₦13 billion of diverted public funds in September 2024 alone. This is just one of the many ways we work tirelessly to fulfill our mandate.

“We are also embarking on ICT reforms that will digitize our operations and enable investigations, case management and internal processes to be more efficient.
“This transformation will position the Corruption Eradication Commission as a leader in using technology to eradicate corruption, thereby making us one step ahead of criminal activity in the digital era.
“This initiative equips our officers with the skills and expertise necessary to tackle the complexity of corruption cases with the highest standards of professionalism and efficiency.
“In addition, we are decentralizing anti-corruption efforts by empowering state governments through the mobilization of State Attorneys General.
“This approach ensures that state governments are equipped with the tools, knowledge and resources necessary to effectively fight corruption at the local level.”
