ICPC rejects report of Judge Omotosho’s arrest

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC) has rejected the video of the arrest of Judge James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja.

ICPC spokesperson, Okor Odey, in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja, described the content of the video as fake and malicious.

“The ICPC wishes to clarify that it has not arrested or invited Judge James Omotosho in connection with any investigation.

“The Commission also did not examine His Honor the Judge as alleged in the video.

“Therefore, the commission urges the public to ignore misleading content and refrain from spreading unverified information that could cause unnecessary public concern and damage reputations,” the statement read.

He added that the ICPC had no mandate to investigate judicial officials.

“This Commission is a body that has great respect for not only the Honorable Judge James Omotosho but also all Judicial Officers in Nigeria.

“ICPC reaffirms its commitment to professionalism and due process in carrying out its statutory mandate and advises the public to rely only on official communications from the commission for accurate information regarding its activities.

“The public is also advised to be careful and verify the authenticity of information circulating on social media before sharing it,” the statement added.
