Kano Contingent Set for Gateway Games: the president of the performance joins the inspiration athletes

The 22nd edition of the National Sports FestivalTagged “Gateway Games”, is ready to keep Abeokuta, state of Ogun, from May 16 to 3025.

The interim president of the Sports Commission of the State of Kano, Ibrahim Umar Fagge (FIFA), revealed his decision to travel by road with the state contingents instead of flying.

“By virtue of my position, I have the right to travel by air. However, I have chosen to travel with our athletes, coaches and officials to experience the road trip next to them,” said Fagge.

“My governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, entrusted me with the leadership of the commission. It would not be correct for me to fly the more than 200 members of our team travel on the road. How would I justify that?”

Fagge asked Kano’s people to offer prayers for a safe trip and a successful excursion in Abeokuta.

He assured that there are adequate preparations to ensure soft and shocking participation in the festival.

Kano’s contingent consists of 173 athletes, 97 coaches, journalists, organizing secretaries and 15 government officials.

They are ready to compete in 17 different sporting events, including judo, boxing, cycling, karate, kung fu, swimming, taekwondo, kickboxing, Dambe, Kokawa, powerlifting, golf, shooting, handball, volleyball, football, gymnastics and chess.

Fagge urged all athletes, coaches and officials to exhibit discipline, sportsmanship and be ambassadors worthy of the State.

He also praised Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his unwavering moral and financial support, promising that the Commission would continue to press for the development of sports in the state and the nation.

Fagge expressed his gratitude to the young and sports commissioner, Alhaji Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso; the Governor’s special advisor on Youth and Sports, Alhaji Sani Danja; and other parties interested in their continuous contributions and encouragement. He reaffirmed the dedication of the commission to revive and promote sports excellence in the state of Kano.
