The Commission for the Judicial Service of the State of Kogi has compulsorily withdrawn a judge, Alemeru Adekunle Bamidele, on a serious bad conduct and suspended the magistrate Tanimu U. Muhammed for two years.
The commission announced the penalties on Thursday after its 136th legal meeting held in Lokoja.
The Secretary of the Commission, dr. Tanko Muhammed, who made the announcement, said that disciplinary actions were based on the recommendations of the Commission’s disciplinary committee, which investigated the accusations against various bailiffs.
Judge Bamidele was stated in corrupt practices, including the abuse of office, the manipulation of judicial proceedings and the violation of judicial ethics.
According to the Commission, he ordered the sale of a property in the dispute and proceeded to buy it alone, despite not making the complete payment.
He also issued an order of the Court in case without granting both parties a fair audition.
“This conduct not only violates the code ethical for bailiffs, but undermines the foundation of the delivery of justice,” said dr. Muhammed.
The magistrate Tanimu U. Muhammed was suspended for abandonment of duty and conducted inconvenient by a judicial officer. He will remain outside the judicial roles for two years and has received a formal warning from the Commission.
In a contrasting development, four other officers – the Abdul Musa Mopah family, Mr. Yunusa Medugu, Deborah O. Lediloma, Esq. And Anuhi Safiya Oiza – exempted from various accusations due to the lack of evidence.
To prevent the future bad conduct and increase morality within the judiciary, the Commission also constituted a committee of six men led by the state attorney general and commissioner for justice, Muizudeen Abdullah.
The Committee was commissioned to review the conditions of well -being of the magistrates and judges of the Court.
The Commission reiterated its zero tolerance position on corruption and bad conduct, underlining that any officer found that he wanted would be treated decisively, regardless of the rank.
“This is a clear message that Kogi’s judiciary will not be a safe refuge for corrupt elements,” added dr. Muhammed.
