Labaran Maku emerged as the LP candidate in the Nasarawa North by-election

Former Minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku, has emerged as the Labor Party’s consensus candidate for the Nasarawa North Senatorial District by-election scheduled for June 20.

The National Publicity Secretary of the Labor Party, Ken Asogwa, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.

Asogwa said the primary election held at the party’s zonal office in Nasarawa North attracted many party supporters who supported Maku’s candidacy for the by-election.

He revealed that seasoned diplomat, Amb. Simon Eze, emerged as the party’s candidate for the Enugu North Senatorial District by-election through a peaceful and rancor-free consensus process.

Asogwa said other candidates who emerged through the same consensus process included Mr Sam Kinanee (Rivers South-East) and Mr Ige Asemudara (Ondo South).

He said Abubakar Muhammad (Dawaki Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency of Kano State) and Muhammad Galadima (Zuru State Constituency of Kebbi State) also emerged through consensus arrangements.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the seats in the Enugu North, Nasarawa North and Rivers South East senatorial districts have become vacant, following the deaths of senators representing the three districts.
