The Lagos state government has dismissed reports of the reintroduction of monthly environmental sanitation exercises in the state.
A report emerged on social media recently that the government has decided to revive the exercise introduced by the military regime in the early 80s following a cholera outbreak in the state.
However, the state Commissioner for Environment, Adetokunbo Wahab, in a statement on Wednesday, said there would be no movement restrictions during the last Saturday of every month in the state.
He considered the claims to be the work of evil-minded people who wanted to cause chaos in the country.
Wahab urged Lagos residents to ignore the reports and continue with their legitimate businesses.
