Galatasaray suffered an exit in the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League after a 4-0 defeat against Liverpool FC at Anfield.
Goals from Dominik Szoboszlai, Hugo Ekitike, Ryan Gravenberch and Mohamed Salah helped Liverpool.
However, the defeat was compounded by a significant injury involving Galatasaray talisman Victor Osimhen.
The Nigerian international suffered a setback already in the 8th minute of the match.
During an aerial challenge, his wrist became caught in Ibrahima Konaté’s knee, causing him immediate discomfort.

Despite the injury, Osimhen continued to play with his wrist tied before being substituted at half-time.
After the match, Galatasaray released an official medical update after performing an MRI on the forward:
“According to the MRI performed by Galatasaray, it was determined that Osimhen has a fracture in his right forearm and is in a cast. The decision on surgery will be made in the coming days after the evaluations that will be carried out.”
Osimhen was seen in a shoulder immobilizer after the match. This medical device is typically used to support and immobilize an injured arm, shoulder, or forearm, which helps stabilize the affected area and promotes the healing process.
The magnitude of the injury and the possibility of surgery create uncertainty about Osimhen’s short-term availability, which is a serious blow for Galatasaray.
