MACBAN Leader: SGF Akume condemns the murder and calls for justice

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, on Sunday, condemned the killing of the Benue State Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Ardo Risku, and his associate, describing the attack as a threat to peace in the state.

Akume also reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to tackling insecurity across the country and appealed to Benue residents to remain calm and support security agencies with credible information.

In a statement issued by its Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yomi Odunuga, the SGF expressed shock and sadness over the incident, describing it as reprehensible and unacceptable.

Akume said the killing came at a time when Benue State was recording improvements in security challenges and warned that enemies of peace must not be allowed to undo the progress achieved through dialogue and reconciliation.

He urged residents to reject violence and reprisals, stressing that lasting peace remains essential for development, investment and economic prosperity.

The SGF expressed its condolences to the family of the late Alhaji Ardo Risku, the management and members of MACBAN and other people affected by the tragedy.

He called on the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services and other security agencies to carry out a thorough investigation and ensure that those responsible are arrested and brought to book.
