Taiwo Awoniyi has stressed that Nottingham Forest will approach their decisive clash against Aston Villa with a firm “three-point mentality”.
The Nigerian striker highlighted the team’s collective progress this season and noted that the team remains focused on taking it game by game as it aims for a good finish.
“I think for us as a team, when you look at the whole season from the beginning to where we are, I think the boys are brilliant,” Awoniyi stated.
“The game against Aston Villa is another important game and I think in the end we will go there with another three-point mentality. But then we will see what happens until the end of the season.”
Meanwhile, Forest coach Vítor Pereira has questioned Ola Aina’s availability ahead of the second leg.
The defender was sent off in the 75th minute of the first leg and was absent from the squad in the recent match against Chelsea.

Providing an update, Pereira admitted that several players are being evaluated, although he remains confident in the team’s mentality heading into the tie.
“There are many doubts, we can have doubts about the players, but we cannot have doubts about the spirit, what we want, our belief above all, about resilience, what we must do tactically, this is something we cannot have doubts about.”
Forest travel to Villa Park with a slim 1-0 lead from the first leg, with a place in the UEFA Europa League final at stake.
