Mexico beat S’Afrika in a chaotic opener as the 2026 World Cup got underway

The 2026 FIFA World Cup officially kicked off with a chaotic opening match between hosts Mexico and South Africa as three players received red cards.

Mexico secured a 2-0 win over an African side returning to the global tournament for the first time since 2010 when they hosted.
