Victor Osimhen says his goal is remain among the best players in the world till the end of his career.

Osimhen ranked 8th in the just concluded 2023 Ballon D’or ceremony in Paris — becoming the first Nigerian to achieve the feat.

The 24-year-old led Napoli to their first league title in 32 years last season, winning the golden boot award in the process.

“To be ranked 8th among the best players in the world is a unique milestone for me, my family and people who believed in me,” He said on Obione podcast.

“And for those who doubted me, it should be an eye opener for them, no one should to talk down on any player who is going through difficult period.

“People don’t know what some players are going through inside, they just see the lifestyle and glamour, then believe everything is fine.”

“It’s not always like that, some players are battling with depression and some inner battle.

“I had my share, with people doubting me when I signed for Napoli and then got injured. But to come out and win the highest scorer award and Scudetto like, it is huge.

“Even if I don’t get a trophy for it, it will stay in heart forever. Because came out of a lot of difficult moment to achieve that.​

Osimhen added that his next target is to improve.

“In addition, it’s a motivation for me to do more and continue to grow and remain among the best till the end of my career.”

“To get there is easy, but to remain there is tough, but I want to continue trying.

“That’s my mentality and I have to emulate people like Harry Kane, who is scoring goals season after season,” He concluded.
