The presidential candidate of the Labor Party in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, says that a single four -year mandate is sufficient for any serious and sincere leader to have an impact in Nigeria.
Obi, in a question of the declaration of the spokesperson for Peter Obi Media Reports, Ibrahim Umar, on Monday in Abuja, also said that a single four -year term, in particular in 2027, would respect the division into areas and would stabilize politics.
“A term is sufficient to establish that a good government is possible and if they can have a negative impact on us for only two years, why does not someone reaches much in four years?
“It is also to respect the agreement of areas of the gentleman, which has been an stabilizing factor, even if it is not in our constitution.
“I don’t need a day more than four years. I will show the direction of good government.
“Two years can change it in a good direction. People want to get up and see a president who worries and show compassion,” he said.
Obi, who reiterated his determination to apply for the presidency in 2027, said he was qualified for the office.
“I will contend for the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and I think I am qualified for this,” he said.
On the possibility that he became a racing partner to the former vice -president Atiku Abubakar in the 2027 elections, Obi said: “This is not at stake; nobody has ever discussed it.
“People assume so many things. Nobody has ever discussed with me if I will be a, B or C.”
He also dissipated the speculations that the Labor party had left, following his open support for the coalition that had adopted the African democratic congress (ADC).
Speaking in coalition with people known for carrying out key roles in previous administrations, Obi explained that their experience was the key to preventing the government that intends to form to fail.
“Their experience is fundamental. I can tell you one of the main companies in the world who hired two people who had worked in failed companies because they can tell you because they failed.
“You need the experience of those who have failed and those who have managed to move forward and I need everyone.
“It is a critical experience because they know what a system can fail and they know what did not go to the system,” he said.
