The Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base (FOB) FORMOSO, Bayelsa, on Monday handed over two suspected armored cable vandals to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC).
The suspects were arrested for suspected vandalism of armored cables in Akakumama community, Nembe Local Government Area.
Commanding officer Captain Sunday Haruna said the suspects were arrested while vandalizing cables supplying electricity through the OANDO flow station to the Akakumama community.
Haruna further said the suspects were nabbed following a credible intelligence report on the activities of vandals in the community.
“We quickly dispatched a patrol team to the area and the suspects were intercepted.
“On sighting our patrolling team, one of the suspects ran away while two others were arrested,” he said.
He said the rapid response and turnaround underlines FOB FORMOSO’s commitment to safeguarding critical infrastructure and maintaining security in the maritime environment.
