NDLEA arrests 80-year-old grandfather with methamphetamine, others in Ekiti

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested an 80-year-old grandfather, during a special raid operation at Mosafuneto camp, Erinmo road, Efon-Alaaye Ekiti.

This is contained in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja by the NDLEA Director, Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi.

Babafemi said NDLEA officers arrested the suspect on March 26 with a total of 2.2kg of suspected skunk and 1.8 grams of suspected methamphetamine.

He also said 894.72kg of the same psychoactive substance was seized from another suspect, when an incomplete building was raided by NDLEA operatives in Ogbese, Akure North Area of ​​Ondo State on the same day.

He further said that no less than 116.7kg of suspected skunk was recovered from a suspect, during a raid operation in Pevi village, Guma LGA of Benue, on March 24.

Ndlea’s director of media and advocacy also said that in Edo, officers on March 23 discovered a warehouse in Ekpoma town, Esan West LGA.

He said this led to the arrest of a suspect and the seizure of 576.5kg of suspected skunk and 33 bottles of suspected codeine-based syrup.

“Similarly, in Taraba, NDLEA operatives, acting on credible intelligence, on March 24, intercepted a truck marked DUT 457 ZB.

“The truck was transporting 100 blocks of suspected compressed skunk weighing 135 kilograms hidden in animal feed bags from Garbachede to Gombe.

“Two suspects have been apprehended in connection with the kidnapping,” he said.

He added that War on Drug Abuse (WADA) social advocacy activities by NDLEA commands continued across the country.

He said the activities include WADA awareness classes delivered to students and staff of Community Secondary School, Itigidi, Abi LGA, Cross River; and Government Girls Secondary School, Yola, Adamawa, among others.
